Nadal Stunned by Monfils in Qatar - Remains Upbeat About Australia

“Today wasn’t my day... Monfils served really well. If he wants to improve his ranking, he will have to play like he did today. I knew it won’t be easy at the start of the season, but I am happy with my game.”

“Maybe I need more time on court... I played two matches in Abu Dhabi and three here, which is good, but I need more matches.”

“I will not go with any bad feeling with this loss. I am playing well. I just need more matches.”

“I had an almost perfect start to the match and I played well on most points... I didn’t allow him to settle down.”

Nadal lost to Monfils 4-6, 4-6 in the Qatar Open quarterfinals on Thursday. Monfils next faces 4th-seeded Andy Roddick.
